A potted history This great house was originally a small cottage early in the 17th century. At various times additions were made by passing owners. When the owner, J.Hancock Nunn, took possession he created the present imposing residence leaving only a small portion of the walls inside the house. J.Hancock Nunn (born 1856) was the sole proprietor of Messrs Hancocks, founders of the India Rubber Industry and patent holders for the vulcanisation of rubber. The property was requisitioned by the RAF (attracted no doubt by the outlook from the tower) during the Second World War. The current owner has been residence since 1984. The attached coach house and lodges have since been converted to separate dwellings.
 
Location – The old Lealands estate is located in a rural area between the market towns of Hailsham and Heathfield. The country town of Lewes, City of Brighton plus the South Downs National Park are also within reach.
